Terms of use

1. Agreement

The website at uncoalesced.com (the “Site”) is operated by uncoalesced (“we”, “us”, “our”). These terms of use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Site. By accessing or using the Site you agree to them. If you use the Site for an organisation, you agree on its behalf and confirm you may do so. If you are under 18, use the Site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you don’t agree to these Terms, please don’t use the Site.

2. Using the Site

2.1 Licence. Subject to these Terms, we give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Site.

2.2 Open-source code. Source code we publish is governed by the licence in its own repository, not by these Terms. Where a project licence and these Terms disagree, the licence wins for that code. The credits page lists each project’s licence.

2.3 Restrictions. Except as allowed by 2.2 or by law, you may not: (i) sell, license or commercially exploit the Site’s content; (ii) republish the Site’s text, artwork or design as your own; (iii) use the uncoalesced name or logos, or alter, recolour or imitate them, without our written permission; or (iv) remove copyright or attribution notices. Quoting and linking to pages with attribution is welcome.

2.4 Acceptable use. You may not attempt to gain unauthorised access to, overload or disrupt the Site or its API; use the contact form to send spam, malware or unlawful content; or crawl the Site in ways our robots.txt asks you not to, including the /api/ paths.

2.5 Changes to the Site. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Site at any time, with or without notice, and we are not liable for doing so. We have no obligation to provide support.

2.6 Ownership. Apart from open-source code under its own licence and third-party material listed on the credits page, all rights in the Site and its content belong to us. These Terms transfer no ownership to you. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

2.7 Feedback. If you send us feedback or suggestions, you allow us to use them freely, without payment or attribution. Please don’t send anything you consider confidential.

3. Privacy

Your use of the Site is also governed by our privacy policy, which forms part of these Terms. The Site uses no cookies or tracking technologies. If these Terms and the privacy policy conflict on how personal data is handled, the privacy policy controls.

4. Papers and project information

Our papers are research writing, not professional, legal, financial or medical advice. Some datasets are simulated, and each paper says so where that applies. Project pages describe software that changes over time, and status labels reflect our best current understanding. Don’t rely on anything on the Site as a guarantee of how a project behaves.

5. Security research

If you find a security vulnerability, report it to mail@uncoalesced.com before disclosing it publicly, and give us reasonable time to fix it. We will not pursue good-faith research that avoids privacy violations, data destruction and service disruption, and that stays within the scope of what you report.

6. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims and reasonable costs arising from your misuse of the Site, your breach of these Terms or your breach of any law.

7. Third-party services

The Site links to websites and services we don’t control, including GitHub and social networks. We don’t endorse them and aren’t responsible for them. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.

8. Disclaimers

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or free of harmful code.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any lost profits, lost data, or indirect, consequential, incidental, special or punitive damages arising from these Terms or your use of, or inability to use, the Site. Our total liability for any claim is limited to INR 5,000. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Termination

These Terms apply while you use the Site. We may suspend or block access to the Site for anyone who breaches them. Sections 2.3 to 2.7 and 3 to 11 survive termination.

11. General

11.1 Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

11.2 Governing law. These Terms and any dispute about them or the Site are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction. Either party may seek urgent relief to protect its intellectual property in any court of competent jurisdiction.

11.3 Electronic communications. You agree that email and notices on the Site satisfy any requirement for written communication.

11.4 Accessibility. Our accessibility statement explains what we test and how to report a barrier.

11.5 Entire agreement. These Terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Site. If any provision is found unenforceable, it is limited to the minimum extent necessary and the rest stays in effect. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
