We want everyone to be able to read this site. Here is what we test, what we know falls short, and how to tell us about a barrier.
Our aim
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We have not had the Site formally audited, so we don’t claim full conformance. This page is honest about where we are.
What we test
Automated browser checks run against every page before changes ship. They confirm that:
- every page has one main heading, headings in order, standard landmarks, a skip link and a declared language;
- every image has a text alternative and set dimensions, and every form field has a label;
- the contact form can be reached and sent with a keyboard alone;
- buttons and links on touch screens are at least 44 pixels in each direction;
- form fields use 16 pixel text, so phones don’t zoom in when you start typing;
- pages fit phone, tablet and desktop widths without sideways scrolling;
- every page’s text is in the HTML itself, so it reads without JavaScript.
Known limitations
- Animations play even if your device asks for reduced motion. This is a deliberate choice for a showcase site, and we know it doesn’t suit everyone. If motion makes the Site hard to use, tell us and we will send you the content in another form.
- Some project pages use animated backgrounds. They are decorative and carry no information the text doesn’t.
- Project pages use their own colour palettes. Body text stays high contrast, but a few accent details are lower contrast.
- Video demos have no sound, so they need no captions, but they don’t yet have text descriptions.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on the Site doesn’t work for you, email mail@uncoalesced.com with the page and what happened. We will reply, and we will fix what we can.
